The Christmas cake - as important to Christmas in Japan as the Turkey is for the US Thanksgiving! Luckily for us Vegans there is a lot to choose from this year, so that we too can stuff our faces and celebrate the end of this very strange year.
I don't know about you, but my year has been rough. Travel restrictions, scary infectious diseases, not being able to see my family, let alone spending the holidays with them... Christmas is a real family holiday to me, so I was not looking forward much to this year's celebrations. I must say, discovering the huge number of Vegan Christmas cakes did brighten up my mood quite a bit. I wish I could have tested them all out for you... #goals

Previously mentioned as a special mention as they had not announced their Christmas cakes of the year yet; Coconut Dream Bakery is a Gluten, Egg, Dairy, Soy and Refined sugar free bakery in Kawasaki. I tried their shortbread cookie, foccacia and muffin, and they were all very delicious - I have been thinking about that shortbread cookie ever since and have high hopes of their beautiful(!) cakes. Tip: as one of the few businesses, they allow you to order other things from their line up together with the Christmas order to save on shipping.

Special mentions
The Pink Cow in Tokyo offers California-Mexican soul food with Vegan options. They do a Thanks Giving menu "as grandma does it", including a piece of homemade vegan dessert.
The deadline for the Thanksgiving meal is 11/16 (mon), but they have announced they will do the same menu for Christmas, so be sure to keep an eye on their shop or Facebook page here.
Still haven't found your perfect cake? Be sure to keep an eye on Cake JP (mentioned previously) as they line up keeps changing and expanding. Some cakes are available for only a limited amount of time, so be sure to keep an eye on the deadlines. But as the cakes often keep for a while if frozen, you may find your perfect option here sooner or later!
